Beaches

Gloucester has a variety of beautiful beaches that residents and visitors, alike, enjoy. Alcohol is prohibited on all beaches. See individual beaches for specific information, such as parking, restroom availability, and other prohibited items. 

 

Cressey's BeachLocated at the lower end of Stage Fort Park. Restrooms are located nearby in the park and there is a privately owned restaurant that is open to the public. Parking is available in the park's lot at a rate of $10 per vehicle on weekdays and $15 on weekends and holidays.
Good Harbor BeachLocated on Thatcher Road/Rte 127A. Food, drinks, beach toys, and other beach necessities are available at the concession; be prepared to carry any trash you create. Restrooms and showers are available from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. During periods of inclement weather, all facilities may close early. Parking is available during the week at a rate of $25 per vehicle, and on the weekends and holidays at $30 per vehicle.
Half Moon BeachLifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. Restrooms are located nearby at the Visitor Center and there are plenty of areas to enjoy a picnic or cookout. Parking is available in the parking lot for $10 per vehicle on weekdays and $15 on weekends and holidays. Flotation devices, and inflatable objects are prohibited. The beach is handicapped accessible with a concrete ramp leading down to the beach area.
Niles BeachLocated on Eastern Point Road in East Gloucester. Parking is limited and restricted to vehicles with a current City of Gloucester beach sticker. Porta–Potties are available and lifeguards are on duty from Fathers Day weekend to Labor Day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.
Pavilion BeachLocated on the Eastern end of Stacey Road in The Fort neighborhood. Parking is very limited and there are no restrooms. Porta–Potties are available a short distance away on the Boulevard. This beach is the home of the Greasy Pole Challenge during Saint Peter's Fiesta.
Plum Cove BeachLocated on Washington Street in Lanesville. Parking is limited and restricted to vehicles with a current Gloucester beach sticker. Lifeguards are on duty from Fathers Day weekend through Labor Day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. Flotation devices, and inflatable objects are prohibited.
Wingaersheek BeachLocated at the end of Atlantic Street off Rte. 133 and Concord Street. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. Surfing, inflatable objects and all flotation devices are prohibited during the hours the lifeguards are on duty. Food, drinks, beach toys, and other beach necessities are available at the concession. Restrooms and showers are available as well from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. During periods of inclement weather, all facilities may close early. Parking is available during the week at a rate of $25 per vehicle and on the weekends and holidays at $30 per vehicle.

 

Beach Sticker Application

Beach stickers allow free parking at Good Harbor Beach, Wingaersheek Beach, and Stage Fort Park. They also allow Gloucester residents to use the composting facility and other city beaches.

Parks + Recreational Facilities

Ben Smith PlaygroundLocated on East Main Street at Cripple Cove. This park is enclosed with a chain link fence and overlooks the water. It includes playground equipment suitable for small children.
Gordon Thomas ParkLocated on East Main Street, this is a small park with a few benches that overlook the water.
Solomon Jacobs ParkLocated at Harbor Loop near the Coast Guard station and Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center. This park includes a walkway to the public landing and benches to enjoy the water view.
Stacey BoulevardThis promenade overlooks Gloucester Harbor and is the location for the Famous Fisherman's Monument and Cenotaph.
Stage Fort ParkThis historic park has access to two beaches and access to a sand volleyball court, a beautiful new playground, a baseball field, a basketball court, and tennis courts.
Magnolia Woods Recreational AreaLocated off of 474 Western Avenue, this 25 acre park is a wonderful place to birdwatch and hike.
